Boat Painting

Need to know of painting a boat (any boat)

Painting a boat is actually no different than painting anything else,       well except that the part of the boat that stays submerged in water needs a special paint.  The above water part can be sprayed with anything... technically.  Automotive paints are the best because of the UV (ultra violet from the sun) blockers in the clear.  That's why some clears cost up to $600.00 per kit of automotive grade clearcoat ( this is a whole other subject we will write about at a future date ).

Now lets imagine we are getting a new used boat.

We either don't like the color or it needs restored, either way it's getting painted.  What you need to know is that boats need different paints on the bottom than that beautiful gloss on the top.  The bottom paint needs to be an ANTI FOULING paint (or copper plating)

Now you need anti fouling wherever the boat goes under water because worms, algae, and other gross things that live in the water will stick to the surface.  Anti fouling paint makes these organisms either not stick or kill them.  But on the above water part,  you can use regular automotive paints.

"2" best days of owning a boat joke

This misconception of the "2 best days of owning a boat" joke. It is just for people who don't fully realize the power you have over nature by restoring a boat and enjoying it.  The "4" best days we at hdpaintcode

declare

1st best day - buying it

2an best day - restoring or painting it

3rd best day- enjoying it

4th best day - passing it on to someone that appreciates it
